ABOUT LOC

Commitment to Excellence

With a career that has spanned more than 20 years in coaching basketball, Jacques Curtis has a philosophy and tradition of excellence that is contagious.  His dedication and tenacious leadership instills the highest regard for academic pursuits of excellence in the classroom partnered with the same commitment of excellence towards performance on the basketball court.  As the Head Coach of women’s basketball at Shaw University, he has graduated 100% of the student athletes that have completed four years of eligibility.

A Winning Tradition

Unprecedented, Coach Curtis is the first coach in the history of the CIAA to win four straight conference championships.  He has been selected as the 2004, 2005 and 2006 CIAA Conference Coach of the Year.  In 2004, he was the 2004 South Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. The accolades are numerous but his relentless quest for excellence and his winning tradition have ignited an intense desire to further expand the teaching and leadership dynamics through sportsmanship and education to other female athletes.

Founded by Curtis in May 2006, The Legacy of Champions Foundation is a nonprofit, tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization designed to provide structured programs of opportunity that will focus on athletic, educational, health and social development of female participants and select community-based organizations in the State of North Carolina and beyond. Our IRS tax exempt number is 72-16107293.

Funding for the Foundation is generated through special events and corporate/individual sponsorships and donations. Your contributions are welcome.
